After 10 anniversaries, it’s hard to think about what I haven’t said about Polecats Manila. Wow. 10 years. We made it to 10 YEARS!!! 💛🖤 That little dream we had, is now THIS. Sometimes, I don’t even recognise it. What an adventure it has been.
Looking at what we have now, I see a completely different reality than what we started with. Some pieces have come and gone, with some parts I wish I could relive over and over and over again. I guess we never really thought of where this would take us in the beginning. All we knew was that pole was fun, and that we loved each other like family.
Polecats grew into something bigger than all of us. Along the way we met people who lived the same dream. Who loved with the same love. They became part of us, and because of them we stayed alive. As someone who belongs to both the old and the now, I am grateful for both. I know in my heart that I would give EVERYTHING in my power to keep this team together.
Polecats is many things for many people. For me it’s home. It is friends with hearts that are big enough to get you through times when you were at the brink of collapse. It is people who make you feel that this is where you belong. It is a team of the best teachers I could ever ask for. Students who became friends, and affirm your reasons to keep doing what you do.
I move into the the next years with half of me anchored on the love the past has given to build this home. Half of me looking to the future holding fast to the ones that have lived the dream, and kept it alive, wild, and raging. A lot has changed after 10 years. But it’s a change that got us here.
So here’s to celebrating both the old and the new. The ones that left, and the ones that stayed. Here’s to the hearts that never get tired, and the ones that light fires when the future is frightening. Here’s to doing what you love relentlessly, and to keep growing the dream that started in a little room among friends who just wanted a cool shirt that said — POLECATS. ✨
